Though it may seem a bit daunting to feed ants in test tubes, they are very predictable when stressed or confused, so here are some tips you can use to help you feed them.
To feed ants in a test tube you firstly open the cotton that is securing the ants and take out the rubbish and old food in it. Then you put a small piece of baking paper or foil with a droplet of honey and a piece of protein inside of it.
Note: If the ants in the test tube run out of it and onto your hand or table, don’t panic as you may injure the ant. If you aren’t waving your hand around like it’s a threat, the ants usually won’t do anything.
If the ants aren’t in any danger outside of the test tube, put the entrance of the test tube in front of it as they will likely go back inside of it because it smells familiar. If they don’t go back inside the tube themselves then try to move them into it.
