Queen ants can be found almost anywhere. They can be found under rocks, climbing trees, under bark, in leaflitter, on walls, roofs, near lights, on concrete and more.
The best time to find and catch most queen ants is after it has rained and is becoming humid. They prefer this weather because it makes it easier to dig small chambers in the soil, and they will have the most energy as it is not cold.
Most ant species fly at dawn and dusk (sunrise and sunset), or at night.
Ants perform nuptial flights all year round but majority fly between October to September.
